Workaway Adventure – Living in a Vineyard in Portugal

“Look at what I have calculated!” Hugh said excitedly as he showed us some numbers on a small piece of paper. “This is the largest harvest we’ve ever had. We harvested 482 large bins of grapes, which is 12,050 Kg or 12 tons or equivalent to 9000 bottles of wine!”

“I can’t even comprehend what that number means,” exclaimed Annie.

“Can I call it the Su Family Vintage 2020?” I proposed to Hugh and Jane, the vineyard owner. “We want to reserve some bottles when it is ready to drink in 4 or 5 years?”

“I want to serve the Su Family Vintage Wine at my wedding!” Laughed Nathan.

Warming Ourselves and our Relationships at the Beaches of Portugal

“Be joyful in Hope, patient in afflictions, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12

“Look! The sky is all blue! I won!” Olivia pointed out immediately as soon as we landed in Lisbon Portugal from the UK, where we had clouds and rain almost every single day.

“Looks like in Portugal Olivia will be winning over Joani every day,” I laughed over Olivia and Joani’s friendly competition to see who can see more blue sky or who can see more clouds because Olivia loves sunlight and Joani loves clouds.

As we feel our bodies warm up by the sunlight and beaches here, little did we know that our family relationship was also being warmed up by our travel in Portugal.

If You Don’t Get Better…

If you don’t get better you can’t go out to play
If you don’t get better the mask will be your lonely fate
If you don’t get better our family will be in danger
The plans we’ve made will have to change
……
If you don’t get better I will make you chicken soup;
I will search high and low for cough drops and medicine too
I will brew your favorite herbal tea,
Or simply filter water if that’s what you need
If you don’t get better we will fight together.
We will stay by your side
We will keep awake and our eyes wide.
If you don’t get better we will not give up we will wait for you and with you and never stop.
If you don’t get better that’s okay.

Olivia’s COVID-19 test came out negative…for the third time.
