(1/2) “Everything changed the day he pointed the (1/2) “Everything changed the day he pointed the gun at me. My parents use to tell me God loves me. I was a Christian but my life was not like that. I was in the gang. I danced in bars. I did drugs. I thought that as long as I had my friends I would be okay. But that day when the police came, I realized I had no excuse. I thought that people steal because they are hungry. People rob others because they have been robbed. But with the gun pointing at me, this close, I knew I was wrong. I am responsible for the things that I do.That day God saved me and I knew I had to change.”
“Talk to your daddy, your big big daddy.” “ “Talk to your daddy, your big big daddy.”

“My big daddy is my father in heaven. Jesus changed everything for me. I use to be on the streets, and in the bars singing for the ladies. But now I sing for Jesus. My dream is to become a singer and let people in all the nations hear my songs.”
“ Her name is Martha, a friend of Jesus.” “ “ Her name is Martha, a friend of Jesus.”

“She was born premature at 25 weeks. There was 8 other premature babies in the hospital, but she was the only one that survived. “You should name her Miracle!”, “You should name her Gift!”, people told me. But no, I named her Martha, because she was a friend of Jesus.

I love my daughter. She is a friend of Jesus.
“I’m thankful to be alive.” We went around “I’m thankful to be alive.”

We went around the circle each listing one thing we were thankful for.
“I’m thankful to be alive.”
“I’m thankful to be alive and my family is alive too.”
“I’m thankful to be alive and you guys can come visit.”
“I’m thankful to be alive...”

At first I thought they were just copying each other. And then I realized it is I who have been taking being alive for granted. Life in the ghetto is hard. There is not enough food, not enough space, not enough money and too many troubles. Yet they face it with bright smiles, they don’t give up meeting together and meeting each other’s needs. Rain or shine, they are family. Today, they are thankful to be alive. I am too.
“What tools do you use at home to gather people “What tools do you use at home to gather people for Christ?”

Here I am looking at someone who has not finished high school, living in the ghettos, and does not know where his next meal where come from. But he goes to two different ghettos everyday to teach more than 100 kids how to dance.

“I did a lot of bad things growing up. I don’t want these kids to grow up doing the mistakes and bad things I did, so I teach them how to dance. What tools do you use at home to gather people for Christ?”

I didn’t know how to answer him but I know now that I am without excuse.
“Once there was a monkey and a fish who were goo “Once there was a monkey and a fish who were good friends. One day the fish’s mother became sick and needed a new heart. So the fish asked the monkey, “Why have you never visited me in the water?”
“I can not swim.”
“Its okay, come in the water and I can climb on you back and swim for you.”
So the monkey came down into the water and the fish climbed up and helped the monkey swim. They swam and swam, until they were very far from land.
“Monkey, I have something to tell you. The reason I asked you to come to the water is because my mother is very sick and she needs a new heart. Can you give your heart to my mother?”
“Eh! You are a bad fish! Why did you not tell me earlier? I would have given you my heart, but I left my heart in my tree. We will have to go back to get it.”
“But I can’t climb the tree.”
“It’s okay, you can climb on my back and I will carry you.”
“Okay.”
So the two of them swam all the way back to shore and the fish climbed on the monkey’s back and got to the top of the monkey’s tree.
“You’re a bad monkey! Now I’m going to die!”

He smiled at us and explained, “Everyone needs a stronghold tree, a
place to run back to when they are trouble. For me, my tree is Jesus. And I leave my heart with Jesus. I go back to him whenever I’m in trouble.
“I can see now.” We prayed for Allie everyday “I can see now.”

We prayed for Allie everyday. She was blind but we believe that Jesus can make her see again. But After 8 years, nothing happened. One day Allie goes to the pastor’s house to visit him. He was in the shower, so Allie knocked:
“Pastor, are you free? Can I talk to you?”
“Who is this?”
“I’m Allie.”
Knowing that Allie was blind, the pastor walked right out of the bathroom, without clothes, without towel, without anything. He brought her to the living room.
“What is it Allie?”
“I want to thank you so much for praying for me. I know it’s because you have been praying. I can see now.”

God works. When we pray we must believe, or else 😂
(4/4) “One day my news paper vendor told me the (4/4) “One day my news paper vendor told me the head office wanted to see me. I thought I was in trouble. What did I do? Did the news vendor not give them the money? Are they going to arrest me? I walked into the board room, the first board room of my life. Five executives sat across the table and only two seats were left for me and the newspaper vendor. I sat down, ready to defend myself.

“Do you know you are selling 7,000 out of the 18,000 news paper we sell everyday? Here’s the application form. How about you come to work for us in the company instead?”

At age 16, with no background, no graduation, I went to work in the corporate world.”
(3/4) “I went to the next office, and offered th (3/4) “I went to the next office, and offered the same deal to the office manager. I told her the guy next door already signed up for it. She wanted the same thing, but instead of one newspaper she wanted 20 every day! She gave me a cheque right then and there. I’ve never held a cheque before. I didn’t even have a bank account! Just like that I sold 7,300 news papers. This was Uganda’s first subscription. Soon I was buying 7000 news papers a day to sell. I rented a small office space with one table, one chair and a sealing machine. I hired 7 boys, bought 7 bikes and together every day we would seal all the news paper and deliver them. Now I was the person in the office, just calling my customers to make sure they have received their newspapers. I was rich. I brought all my siblings up to live with me and enrolled all of them in school. Now 17 out of 21 of them all graduated from university and they have good jobs. They are all doing better than me now.”
